Melbourne Victory coach Tony Popovic says his players will be ready for the derby clash against Melbourne City despite another tough travel schedule ahead of the game.
Victory are priced at 5/1 to win the A-League grand final and moved to third on the ladder with a 1-0 win over Perth Glory in the west on Wednesday night.
Victory overcame a tough test at HBF Park as Francesco Margiotta grabbed the only goal of the game and now they face an even tougher one when they play an in-form City side.
City are top of the ladder following a 4-0 win over Sydney FC on home soil at AAMI Park on Wednesday night. Victory have had to travel but Popovic will not be using that as an excuse.
"It will be difficult but we faced that recently when we went to Japan, played extra time, travelled 24 hours back from Japan and 48 hours later we played Melbourne City," Popovic said. "That was only recently and we had a draw and played very well.
"We have another opportunity now. Difficult circumstances, but a chance to show once again there we're a good side."
Meanwhile Popovic revealed his delight at Margiotta snapping a three-game losing streak with his first goal in 12 matches and now hopes he can kick on.
"He had a wonderful free-kick that hit the post and then he got the goal,” Popovic said. "I'm sure that will lift his confidence even further.
"He's always been a good footballer and strikers, when they score, usually gain even more confidence. We're hoping to see that from Francesco moving forward."
