Port Adelaide are sweating over the fitness of Charlie Dixon and Orazio Fantasia who could miss the start of the 2022 AFL campaign through injury.
The Power will once again be pushing for premiership glory in the new season and are priced at 9/1 to win the grand final but they are already suffering injury frustration before a ball has been bounced.
Dixon is reported to have torn ligaments in his ankle after landing awkwardly in training on Friday, while Fantasia continues to have an issue with his right knee despite having surgery late last year.
Port are said to be weighing up whether both players will need surgery to fix their problems, which would make them big doubts for round one of the comp on 19th March.
Port fire Powell-Pepper warning
Port star Connor Rozee admits the news is a big setback but believes they will have the strength in depth to cope if both players need a spell on the sidelines.
"It can get a little bit annoying, especially during the season when you've got numbers going down," Rozee said. "And, depending on the personnel, it can have a pretty big impact on the group.
"But we've got a lot of young boys coming through that have been really promising throughout pre-season. These injuries have given them opportunities to step up in match play and that sort of thing.
"One of our main strengths is our depth and that will have to get tested again this season."
