Aussie Rules: Ratten hails hero King

St Kilda coach Brett Ratten has heaped praise on Ben King and believes there is even more to come from the forward following his match-winning display against Fremantle.

The Saints are priced at 15/8 to finish in the top eight of the AFL and got their season up and running with a 10-point win over the Dockers at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

King the hero

King was one of the stand-out performers for St Kilda when booting four goals and taking four contested marks.

The highlight saw King take a strong mark with six minutes left on the clock before slotting a crucial goal just as Fremantle threatened to battle back.

Speaking to reporters after the game Ratten praised the forward and is excited to see what the future holds.

"He is evolving," Ratten said of King. "He doesn't have to have a heap of possessions to impact a game.

"When you see someone of his size and athleticism, the ball gravitates to him. He is still developing and he has work to do, but I like his resilience and him sticking to his task."

Higgins praise

Meanwhile Ratten also saluted Jack Higgins who bounced back from kicking 0.4 against Collingwood the week before.
At Optus Stadium he was the perfect partner in crime for King and his four goals also proved to be crucial.

"He was our best pressure player in our forward half and the reward came with the goal scoring," Ratten,” added.
