Socceroos defender Aziz Behich says Tom Rogic has the support of the whole team after pulling out of the World Cup qualifying play-offs because of personal reasons.
Australia are priced at 500/1 to win the World Cup but they still need to book their spot in Qatar after failing to qualify via the group stages.
Their chances of qualification have now been hit by the news that star forward Rogic has made himself unavailable for the play-offs when the Socceroos will face the UAE and then hopefully Peru.
The exact reason for Rogic pulling out has yet to be revealed, but it is thought to be family related. Whatever the case, Behich says their team-mate has their full support.
"We're gutted for Tommy," Behich said. "First and foremost the main thing is him and his family are fine, and he knows that he has our support from the Socceroo family.
"We've just got to move on. We've got enough depth here in our squad. I've got no doubt that the players who will come in will do the job."
Ajdin Hrustic is seen as the player to step up to the plate and help fill the void. Fresh from his Europa League success with Eintracht Frankfurt he should be on a high and ready to shine for the Socceroos.
"Ajdin is a great player and a great talent," Behich added. "He's proven at international level that he can play these games no problem. If he's given the chance there by the boss, I'm sure he's going to do a great job for us.”
