Roma clash excites Allegri

Juventus manager Max Allegri is hoping for yet another pulsating encounter with Roma in Serie A this week, claiming the fixture is "always a great match".

Juve are 17/20 to beat Roma, who are 3/1 to win with the draw 14/5 in Italy's Serie A on Sunday.

Juventus playing catch-up

In their second spell under Allegri, who previously won five Scudettos between 2014 and 2019 with the club, Juventus have made a rocky start to the new campaign.

After seven matches, the Old Lady have three wins, two draws and two defeats to their name and are on the fringes of the European places in Serie A.

This week's opponents Roma, meanwhile, have won five of their opening seven games and look like early contenders for a Champions League berth under Jose Mourinho, who joined the club in the summer.

Attacking encounter on the cards

And with Juve having won their last four games in all competitions, the contest at the Allianz Stadium in Turin could be a humdinger, much like the reverse fixture last season which finished 2-2 in Rome last September.

Allegri in particular expects a good game and has called on his team to "switch back on" following the international break as they look to wrestle back the Scudetto after relinquishing the title to Inter Milan last season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Allegri said: "Juventus vs. Roma is always a great match where there has often been controversy.

"There's Mourinho, who has given them character. They are ahead of us and we must score points to not fall behind the best in the championship.

"We need to prepare well and turn the switch back on immediately after the break."
