The high chance of a firm track at Eagle Farm will hold no fears for Owen County according to trainer John Sargent as the gelding gets set to tackle the JJ Atkins on Saturday.
Having raced three times on heavy surfaces, for a pair of dominant wins and a Clarendon Stakes placing, Owen County, priced at 12/1, will now find himself facing a good surface for the first time in this weekend's Group 1 contest.
Sargent believes there is no reason why Owen County won't handle it.
"It will be interesting because he has only raced on heavy tracks, but I don't see any reason he shouldn't be alright on a firm track," the trainer said.
"He has come through his last run great, and the mile will be right up his alley."

The son of Dundeel seemed to benefit from the addition of blinkers when winning over 1400 metres at Randwick last time out under Keagan Latham, who retains the ride this weekend.
The run will be Owen County's last this campaign before a short break which could be followed by Derby aspirations.
"I will give him a quick turnaround up there, probably for about three weeks, and then we will come down and look at some nice races heading towards the Derby," Sargent said.
"I've thought that's what he is all the way along, a Derby type of horse."
