St George Illawarra have secured the future of talented young fullback Tyrell Sloan who has extended his contract until the end of the 2024 NRL campaign.
The Dragons are looking to climb the NRL ladder and push for finals in 2022 and they expect Sloan will have a key role to play for years to come, such is his potential.
Sloan was originally on the development player list but the Dragons have upgraded his contract to include him in the top 30 squad, and have also added an extra year to the deal.
Sloan made five appearances last season but following the departure of Matt Dufty to the Bulldogs he will begin the new season in the No.1 Jersey.
Sullivan set sights on Dragons role
"Re-signing is a proud moment in my career," Sloan said after the deal was announced.
"It's good news for the club that there's a few of us staying put and remaining with our friends and family. None of us wanted to leave. This is our home.
"It's exciting being in the first-grade squad having come through the juniors together. It's a cool moment for all of us. We're all proud to wear the Red V jersey and we're keen to take it back to where it needs to be, playing finals footy.
Sloan knows competition for places in the Dragons side will be hot but it is a challenge he is up for and he cannot wait for the season to start.
"I was put in the deep end last year, but it was an opportunity I was more than happy to take. My debut was the best moment of my life and to get four more games afterwards was very pleasing," he added.
"It's healthy competition across the squad and I'm very much looking forward to the challenges ahead."
