NRL: Storm missing duo but wait on Smith

Melbourne Storm will be without Harry Grant and Tyran Wishart when they face Parramatta but are hoping Brandon Smith could make a miracle return to action.

The Storm are priced at 14/25 to beat the Eels but once again Craig Bellamy will be without key players heading into the game as Grant and Wishart are missing.

Grant setback

Grant was the star of the show in the golden-point win over South Sydney last week but has since become sick and will miss out. Now his housemate Wishart in also unavailable to face the Eels.

It leaves coach Craig Bellamy with a problem at hooker but there is a chance it could be solved if Smith is passed fit to play.

Johns injury setback for Storm

The chances of that happening look slim but it has not been completely ruled out. Smith broke his hand in round one and needed surgery. However he has made a miraculous recovery and is closing in on a return.

Smith thinks he would be fine to play but Storm football manager Frank Ponissi believes the game may come a touch too soon.

"He's probably unlikely to play, it might just fall a couple of days short," Ponissi said. "He's come along really well and the surgeon is really happy but he's just got to get strength back in his hand.

"We named him as an outside chance, he's in the mix and we will see how he goes."

King ready for Parra

New boy Josh King is fit and ready to play. King has impressed since arriving from Newcastle and says the Storm will be in for a tough encounter when they face the Eels.

"Parra are a great side and they've shown that for the last few years," he said. "They've got a big forward pack and have plenty of talent in the backs but we're focusing on ourselves after last week's game and how we can be better."
