The Melbourne Storm are set to complete the signing of Tariq Sims on a one-year deal from the start of the 2023 NRL campaign.
The Storm are priced at 13/10 to reach the grand final this season and would no doubt love to land Sims with immediate effect if that was possible.
Sims was told last year that he would not be getting a new deal with St George Illawarra Dragons and the 2022 season would be his last with the club.
The forward was told he could leave ahead of the start of this season if he could find a new home.
At the time he couldn’t and ended up staying with the Dragons.

There is no talk of an immediate release just now. The Dragons may want to keep him and there could also be salary cap issues for Melbourne taking him right away.
Melbourne are light on forwards right now after losing Christian Welch and Tui Kamikamica but coach Craig Bellamy will have to battle on with what he has got.
Sims is a New South Wales State of Origin representative and represents a great bit of business for the Storm.
They lose Felise Kaufusi and Kenny Bromwich to the Dolphins next year and the arrival of Sims will offset their loss.
The Storm are back in action on Anzac Day when they take on the Warriors on home soil. They sit second on the ladder with five wins from six.
