Supreme Dominator will get a crack at the Del-Re National A. G. Hunter Cup on Saturday night following the surprise scratching of Expensive Ego ahead of the race.
Supreme Dominator looked set to miss out after being named as the first emergency, but the withdrawal of Expensive Ego will see Joe Pace's charge handed a spot in gate 11.
Top trainer Belinda McCarthy has opted against starting Expensive Ego in the $500,000 Group 1 race with reports claiming his heart rate was up in training on Tuesday morning.
McCarthy will now turn her focus to the Miracle Mile with Expensive Ego and the door is open for Supreme Dominator to take advantage.
Pace is delighted to get a chance to shine in the big race and believes Supreme Dominator could be in the mix if he gets a bit of luck throughout the race.
The draw which sees Supreme Dominator start between Willie Go West and Malcolms Rhythm is far from ideal but Pace is just happy to be in the race.
"I always thought he should have probably got a run," Pace said. "I was a little disappointed after he was named as first emergency.
"He’s drawn 11 in the Hunter Cup and you have King Of Swing, Triple Eight and Spirit Of St Louis all drawn in front, so that’s going to make it hard.
"I think if he can get a good sit, if there’s good speed on up front and he gets a bit of luck he can run in the top half a dozen."
