NRL: Tedesco salutes Roosters win

Sydney Roosters skipper James Tedesco saluted his side following the 28-4 win over the Cowboys but says they need to keep it up for the rest of the season.

The Roosters are priced at 13/2 to win the 2022 NRL grand final season and put in a good performance when blowing away the Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday.

Back to winning ways

The Roosters impressed when running in six tries, with Tedesco himself having a great game that included two try assists.

Joseph Manu also impressed with four try assists and Tedesco says it was a much better team performance, just a week after they suffered defeat against South Sydney.

Maguire proud despite cruel blow

Speaking after the game Tedesco said the Roosters have now set the benchmark and need to keep on performing.

"That's sort of our standard tonight," he told AAP. "We've got to hold ourselves to that standard, was a good bounce back from last week, but we need to continue that. It means nothing if we put another poor performance in next week."

Proud Payten

Despite the loss Cowboys coach Todd Payten was proud of the performance his side put in when they were reduced to 12 men when Tom Gilbert was sin-binned in the 21st minute.

"They (Roosters) jumped out of the blocks and started really fast," Payten added. "To play, what 30 minutes with 12 men and only concede the amount of points we did, I'm wrapped with the effort."

"We're a different team and I think the belief only grew a little bit tonight."
