Newcastle star Angus Thurgate admitted the Jets were left very frustrated after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Adelaide United on Sunday.
Newcastle are priced at 2/1 to finish in the top six of the A-League and should have picked up a valuable three points against the Reds, only to slip to a 2-1 defeat instead.
The Jets had not played a game for almost six weeks following a number of A-League games being postponed and they looked on course to return with a win.
Arthur Papas' side dominated the first half but had to wait until the 71st minute to take the lead through Beka Mikeltadze who fired home an acrobatic effort following a cross from Olivier Boumal.

The Jets had further chances to build on their lead but did not take them and Adelaide struck two late killer blows to take all three points.
15-year-old Nestory Irankunda grabbed the equaliser with a stunning 25-yard free kick with 88 minutes on the clock before new Japanese import Hiroshi Ibusuki grabbed the winner in stoppage time.
It was a bitter pill for the Jets to swallow and Thurgate was understandably downbeat after the game.
"We had a great foothold on the game and we threw it away the end," he told Network 10. "Really, really tough to take. We've worked so hard. We've had six weeks to get ourselves up this game and that's just really disappointing."
