Arthur Papas praised his Newcastle players for capitalising on the brief spell of pressure they had against Western Sydney Wanderers on Wednesday night.
The Jets beat the Wanderers 1-0 at McDonald Jones Stadium and are now priced at 7/4 to go on and finish in the top six of the A-League.
The Jets grabbed the only goal of the game thanks to a great bit of play between Daniel Penha and Angus Thurgate on the hour-mark.
A sublime pass from Penha found Thurgate who made no mistake when firing home from close range to wrap up a crucial three points.

The goal came at a time when Newcastle were having their best spell and Papas accepts that his side may have been a touch fortunate to take the win.
"We didn't get on top of the game enough, didn't control the ball enough, our distances where we had the ball were too far apart," Papas said. "I think we lacked a bit of intent to go forward as well.
"We had a good 20-minute period and that's probably the difference, that we actually capitalised on it."
Jets' goalkeeper Jack Duncan somehow managed to keep a clean sheet as Ramy Najjarine and Adama Traore both squandered great opportunities at 0-0.
Wanderers star Kejiro Ogawa also had a goal ruled out for offside in the 50th minute before Thurgate struck 10 minutes later to take the win.
Papas' side will now look to back up the win with another three points against Macarthur FC on Saturday as they attempt to close the gap on the top six.
