Wests Tigers have confirmed talented forward Justin Matamua has re-signed with the club until at least the end of the 2024 NRL campaign.
The Tigers are priced at 40/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and see Matamua, who is working his way through the ranks, as a key part of their future.
The youngster has been training with the first-grade squad throughout pre-season and has caught the eye with his work ethic.
He was also selected for a Future Blues camp and the Tigers have wasted no time in getting him locked in for the next three seasons.
Matamua is delighted to have penned the deal with the Tigers and is excited to see what the future holds for him.
"As a local junior, it means a lot to me to sign with the club. It’s always been a dream of mine to play for Wests Tigers and pull on the jersey," Matamua told the club's website. "I’m so grateful that the club saw something in me and have given me this opportunity."
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe has also expressed his delight at getting Matamua tied down and believes the youngster fully deserves the deal.
"On behalf of everyone at Wests Tigers, I’d like to congratulate Justin on re-signing with the club for the next three seasons," Pascoe added.
"As a club, we’re all looking forward to watching him take the next steps in his development in a Wests Tigers jersey."
Wests Tigers Director of Football Tim Sheens echoed those comments when adding: "Justin is a talented young forward and we’re very excited to see him continue his career in a Wests Tigers jersey moving forward.
"He is an example for all our local juniors of the pathways we want to continue here, and I look forward to watching him take the next steps of his rugby league career at this club."
