NFL - US Sports: Titans double down on Brown stance

The Tennessee Titans intend to keep wide receiver A.J. Brown long-term with general manager Jon Robinson reiterating his stance on the player.

Brown has fuelled rumours that he's unhappy with the Titans, who are 13/1 to win the AFC Championship, through a series of ambiguous and frustrated-sounding Tweets within the last month.

Brown vents frustration

A few days after the Miami Dolphins made Tyreek Hill the highest-paid wideout in the NFL, Brown tweeted: "It's out of my hands. God I trust you!" followed by, a couple of days later, "Happens every week but it never gets any easier."

Titans fans were again left guessing when Brown, who caught 63 passes for 869 yards and five scores last season, wrote "Tired of all this just like y'all" on social media at the start of April.

Last month, Robinson made it very clear the Titans want to keep Brown when his rookie contract expires after the 2022 season and for several years beyond that.

"A.J. is an important part of what we do. He's a great teammate, he works hard, he's about what we're about. A.J. is a Titan and we want to keep A.J. a Titan," Robinson told TennesseeTitans.com.

"And that's part of our goal this offseason, or whenever that manifests itself, to come to an agreement to keep him around."

Lack of positivity

But two of Brown's more recent Twitter utterances hardly resonate positivity about a long-term agreement being reached.

"This can (go) one or two ways. It can go up. It can go down. Either way I'm prepared," he told the world on 6th April, followed by "If it's not mutual, I don't want it" last week.

"I've talked about where we're at, and I've talked to A.J.'s reps," Robinson said on Thursday, via The Tennessean. "A.J. knows how we feel about him, and how much he means to this football team."
