Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has confirmed Adam Tomlinson will come into the Demons squad to help cover for the loss of Steven May.
Melbourne are priced at 1/4 to beat the Sydney Swans on Saturday night but will have to do it without star defender May who will sit out through concussion.
The Demons will be keen to bounce back after seeing their 17-match unbeaten run snapped by Fremantle Dockers last weekend. And the loss of May is a big setback.
However Goodwin believes Tomlinson deserves his chance after impressing in the VFL and is more than capable of doing a great job.

"(Tomlinson has produced) six weeks of outstanding VFL footy," Goodwin said. "He's back winning one-on-one contests and he's playing our defensive system to a really high level.
"Obviously with May, (Harrison) Petty and (Jake) Lever it's been really hard to get him back into the team, but the opportunity has arisen and he deserves his spot."
Meanwhile Tom McDonald, Christian Salem, James Harmes, Ed Langdon and Michael Hibberd could all return and Goodwin is not concerned about bringing them all back in at the same time.
"All our guys that will be available for selection know our system incredibly well and one thing we know that works well for our team is cohesion," Goodwin added. "Those guys know their role incredibly well and have built cohesion over a long period of time.”
