Western Sydney Wanderers have completed the signing of experienced French midfielder Romain Amalfitano for the 2022/23 A-League season.
The Wanderers missed out on the top six last season and coach Mark Rudan is determined to take them back there in his first full season in charge.
Amalfitano will bring great experience to the club having played over 200 games for French club Dijon, while he also played for English Premier League side Newcastle United.
While with the Magpies he played in the Europa League and at 32 he still has some good years ahead of him. Rudan certainly thinks so and is delighted to have the player on board for next season.

"Romain is a fantastic professional with great pedigree having played in the top-flight of French and Saudi Arabian football," Rudan told reporters. "We welcome his experience and quality to the playing squad and expect his character to fit in well with the culture and environment we are transforming at the club."
Meanwhile Amalfitano said he is excited about the prospect of playing in Australia and is keen to help the Wanderers have a good season.
"I wanted to discover another league and a new culture for my family," he added. "I had spoken to head coach Mark Rudan on the phone and he convinced me to come to Western Sydney because he has ambitions for the club and for the fans.
"I hope to have the best possible season but I am a team player, so the most important thing is that we go as far as possible in our objectives."
